Yeah that's what I imagined when I read your original mail.

Now next thing I'm thinking is this. This is *a lot* of energy. If
the channels/systems *below* the flare are either blocked or not
in good shape, then sending that kind of charge through it would
be very injurous, worse than counterproductive - which is what
causes "broken channel flares" in the first place.

Although where these flares occur, you get a rupture it is still
the better or safer option than to have this charge hit damaged
ereas.

When we do shield work, we make a tiny hole to allow us to
investigate the environmental conditions *behind* the shield.

I think this is in order in this case too; it certainly cannot
hurt to route a *tiny, tiny* percentage of this precise energy
"down" rather than out and find out what is going on behind the
flare place. Get that in order and ready to take this kind of
charge before any attempt is made to repair the broken channel and
force it that way. Which could be big time ouch. Or worse.
