Soften and flow. Drop shields to the person. Take their energy in (and flow it through and out) and find out what happens next. Let the fear go and something natural and amazing may emerge as you find this will inside you to help the person in any way you can ("For sure I am no angel, but what I have to give, I give to you ...").
ET can be exquisite, extraordinary if you just keep it simple.

i did this with brad's person and was struck with her extraordinary strength, and brad's, and mine. this strength, courage and sensitivity of psych patients is why i became an inpatient nurse , to have contact with these golden ones.
