When I'm talking to kids, I just talk about the feeling being
stuck and that there are channels to carry these feelings out and
away, and what we have to do is to find them, then help the
feelings go through and out, by warming and rubbing with our hands
and by concentrating on them.

The other alternative I use is to talk about water. As in, think
of emotions like water. They are supposed to flow from one moment
to the other but if they get stuck, the pressure increases and
then you can feel it. More pressure, and you can feel it rising up
painfully, if you then try and keep it all pushed down it hurts
and you can get "depressed". Depress it too much, it gets to be
hard as ice, and other people they have fiery explosions just to
take that painful pressure off. And once again, the speech about
the channels in our bodies designed to let all of that flow and
when it flows, it feels good. Where it hurts is where the blockage
is.

What I have found is when I talk like that people understand it,
because they have felt just these feelings, they know them. They
have felt their angers rising up and trying to battle them back
down, have tried to swallow insults, have tried to let things go
but they just won't and keep on hurting. It makes sense to them
and when you mention those channels which are supposed to let it
flow, that;s when they really nod and say or think, yeah, that
makes sense, that feels *right*.

But if they don't want to play ball and remain completely
resistant, so what. Do something else instead. It's their money,
their session, their life.
