Intention vs Willpower - are we trying too hard?

Hello et2 friends near and far :-)

I am picking up that some people are struggling using EmoTrance, especially when learning from a book without the additional support that is available at a workshop and the chance to ask questions and refine their technique. I wanted to offer a bit of help if this is you. These tips will also be helpful to ET practitioners giving guidance to clients where they dont appear to be getting the results they want and to Trainers teaching ET.

One of the reasons for lack of success with ET is the incorrect use of willpower as opposed to the correct use of intention.

Let me explain.

When feeling distressed or recalling a painful memory, we can locate the energy disturbance in the body. But some people when they try to soften the energy and get it to flow...nothing happens or it doesnt work so well as indicated in the books or according to the great success stories they hear.

The lack of success can be down to the difference between using your 'will power' to 'make' the energy soften and using your 'intention'. The difference in technique is only subtle but the difference in results is enormous.

--- Will power---

Some of us are basically just trying too hard.

We are instructed to pay attention to the physical sensations in the body when we have an emotion. We get this far, in the heart, stomach, head etc. Then having never done anything like this before, we try to 'make' the energy soften and to flow. We are 'willing' it to soften. And not a lot happens. We get frustrated and give up and say EmoTrance doesn't work for me.

--- Intention---

But when we use intention correctly, it's effortless and it works immediately.

Thought is energy and intention is energy transmitted .... to the place that we are focussing our attention.

So I have found it helpful to direct people in the following way to :

1) pay attention to the energy disturbance. To take a moment to notice what it's like. Then

2) to simply to think that 'this energy is softening' as I watch it.

Ie. to use our intention, we simply 'hold the thought of the result that we desire'. In this case, that 'the energy is softening as we watch it'. Its effortless, and the energy responds immediately.

As for when the energy begins to flow, we need to pay attention to the consistency or density of the energy. The heavier the energy the more we feel it as a physical pain or pressure and the more the energy is stuck. The lighter it is, the more easily it can flow.

So if the energy is softening but its not flowing yet, then simply hold the thought that its softening for a few moments more. Then when it becomes soft enough, the energy will flow of its own accord. We then just follow it through the body and out. If its flowing slowly, check the density again, maybe its still 'viscous'. In this case, hold the thought that 'its softening as its flowing' and watch it soften and speed out much more easily.

Hope that helps afew people that are struggling on their own with ET and encourages you to give it another go if it hasn't been working for you so far.

For those thinking of attending a workshop, a quick reminder of dates of my next workshops in the UK and USA is below.

As ever I am happy to answer any questions or comments.

Love and best wishes :-)
