Hi Nicholas,
Really enjoyed your post. How fortunate for the people of Tahiti that
Captain Cook came along and opened the door for the missionaries to
arrive and save these poor pagans!
It is really fascinating how that simple statement about chopping
wood can be viewed from so many differing perspectives.
I believe that it was originally meant as an analogy only - meaning
that one's outer circumstances do not necessarily change - the change
occurs internally. Not only by the way we think but by the way we
feel about the universe as a whole. We see the absolute perfection
and sacredness in everything and realize that what is not seen as
perfection is simply the result of our own limited perception.
That is why it is important in my view, to broaden our perception. On
an energetic level, this occurs naturally as our chakras open.
Enlightenment occurs when the crown chakra fully opens, however for a
balanced perspective it is also necessary that the others open as
well - each in their own time.
I don't view this as some eastern mystic or religious event, but as a
result of developing consciousness through our energy centers - that
are there - whether we are fully aware of them or not.
Blessings, Nels
