I certainly agree on how we are selling ourselves short on what we
can become.
It's not just teachers but everything - movies and plays, stories
and fairy tales, weird religions including science and most of
all, the linear thought-minds inability to come up with something
it has no previous experience of.
This leads to the "refugee camp" problem - a little kid in a
refugee camp who has never seen anything else has as their live's
goal and highest joy the idea of *an entire bowl of gruel* they
don't have to share with anyone else. That's the best it can get
and there's simply nothing else.
You can tell them about roast turkeys but it doesn't mean a thing
and they'll still go away and continue to dream of gruel.
The more impoverished and low on love, joy, power etc someone's
life has been, the lower their expectations and goals and the
further they are away from what could be out there for them if
only they knew and could start moving towards it.
Then, there's the wonderful concept of "the next higher taste".
This is simply so that the *best so far* ALWAYS and AUTOMATICALLY
sets the goal/achievements/dream/expectation/hope limits in the
thought mind. So for the refugee camp kid, the gruel is IT for
now, for always, until death do us part - until one day, they find
a bit of a discarded Mars bar a care worker left behind.
They try it and WOW!!!!!! - Guiding Star. The gruel is no longer
No. 1 but has been superceded by the Mars bar. There is no choice,
the entire totality is now congruently pointed into a new
direction, straight towards the next higher taste. Until and
unless something comes along accidentally that once again blows
the limits out and re-sets the system of joy and happiness, the
kid will now plot a course towards Mars bars ad infinitum.
This happens, btw, also with people, places, colours, books,
movies, music, objects, all sorts.
So, someone gets married to this person they swear "is the best
forever" and a couple of years later, meet someone else who simply
is "the next higher taste". If the threshold breach is strong
enough, no amount of will power or societal retribution will stop
that person from "having to follow their heart" and going for the
next higher taste.
This also can cause switches in allegiance. Someone who's had an
enlightenment experience involving God, for example, may well have
no option but to don the robes and take to the monastery or the
street - and nevermind the beloved wife crying and pleading, the
children and parents in total distress and even parts of himself
which are completely appalled.
There are three things which are very important about this process
in action.
One, it's entirely structural and completely natural in all ways.
There is nothing mystical about it and all human beings do this.
Two, you can't override this with will-power or the usual
mechanisms of fear of pain in societal/political control. It's a
hugely powerful, irresistible, integrated totality "towards"
motivator.
Three, whatever the higher taste of the day, and *including the
"gotta serve God by walking the Earth" deal* is not the end result
of the process because there *is no end* to this process.
Sure when you are in it, it absolutely and completely feels as
though "this is it, this is the best it can get" but - and here a
logical computing thought-mind is actually very, very useful to
point out that based on previous evidence, you can expect to be
completely wrong about thinking the current bowl of gruel is all
there is for and that there is ALWAYS ALWAYS the next higher taste
just waiting to surprise you yet again - if you are willing to
point yourself in a direction you can have no previous experience
of :-) AND ready to accept that the current higher tastes are but
a fashion item and no matter how incredibly profound they may be
appearing from where you are at.
(It is a possibility that that very idea is what's meant by the
various metaphors of having to give up this and that to truly move
towards the next steps of the enlightenment process).

I'm sorry to hear it but the sad thing is, that's exactly what has
to happen if you have a fast, well working, highly motivated and
desperately helpful thought-mind trying to integrate
"quasi-information" that won't integrate nor make sense in the
form of a bigger picture, no matter what you do.

Amen to that, Robert!
I think I am amongst one of my own most grateful customers for
this particular process - I, too, have literally driven myself mad
over the years over these things and to be able to be allowed to
say, "Well clearly I can't solve this, pass it on." has been such
a huge, huge relief to me personally, it's difficult to describe.
Phew. With a capital P.
The neat thing - having put the thought system into overdrive all
these years, it's still there and running at this constant high
speed as its become used to doing. But now, it has not only more
room and less mess to contain with but also is getting new
incoming information from all over the place - and that is really
speeding up my work considerably.
It's also so nice to see the so deeply and profoundly maligned
thought-mind going to work and being able to finally do what it is
good at - and to me, the best I can describe this at is really
like a beautiful, many layered, structural map finally coming into
being. it is very satisfying to watch it unfolding with a promise
of the clarity and purpose to come.
