I am referring to ritualised gestures and body postures which vary
greatly across cultures and which are designed to create
(invisible) signs, barriers, bridges, funnels, portals etc in
order to protect oneself (or receive from or communicate with)
similarly invisible incoming or existing realites.

... A genuflection is the action begun from a standing position in
which a worshiper moves his or her right foot back a step, drops
the right knee briefly to the floor, and then stands upright
again. Most people naturally bow their head while performing this
action; some make the sign of the cross.
