>>> some clients have great ET experiences during the sessions, but
somehow "can't" apply it at home. Normally I would recommend "the
books", but none of these folks reads English. Maybe I should translate
on or two articles in French. Which would you recommend as a starter for
reluctant homeworkers?<<<
Homework sheets and reminder literature can have positive effects on
"porting magic circle" behaviour into real life situations, but that is
not the only device, nor does it work for everyone.
As it can become an environmental trigger/anchor/reminder, for example,
the person sees the sheet by the telephone and is reminded, oh yeah, I
could do THAT ... it is valuable however.
The easiest and most globally useful EmoTrance self help tool is HEART
HEALING. This combines a prayer like posture and brings kinaesthetics
into play; because there is touch involved it anchors easily and is
easily remembered.
The reason that people fail to make things work by themselves when they
have shown themselves capable of doing the same behaviour when another
(authority figure) is present, is as follows.
1. Simply STATE
The person may have moved into a state in rapport with the practitioner
that is normal to the practitioner but ALIEN to the person in question,
and is further not a state that they inhabit naturally during the course
of their days in general, and most particularly not during any form of
emotional disturbance, when resources of memory, thought and ability to
influence environment and self diminish radically.
State ANCHORS that help a person re-enter the state necessary to perform
the actions necessary or state BRIDGES need to be installed by the
practitioner to ensure that the person will be able to access behaviour
under duress and stress.
This includes basic rituals; objects and potions; and linking state
anchors and awareness DIRECTLY to the performance of a ritual or learned
state shifter.
In order to set up state bridges and anchors correctly for an individual
client, it is necessary to elicit situations that would arise in real
life and the triggers for these; this would involve asking the person
when and HOW it happens usually that they feel the beginnings of losing
control of their state.
These may be environmental circumstances but also often, if not always
but not necessarily within the conscious awareness of a person,
KINAESTHETIC responses TO environmental stimuli - specific feelings, in
other words, that herald the onset of a time spent in anger, depression,
sadness, confusion, panic, stress, etc.
To bridge from, "As soon as you feel THAT feeling (in your stomach, in
your throat, etc), I want you to (insert simple physical ritual, i.e.
drink a glass of water, assume the heart healing position, take a deep
breath and clap your hands, say, "It is ONLY an energy!" etc. etc. etc.)
To engage the person's full co-operation it is most effective to develop
a state anchor in consultation with the person, who will be able to go
inside and check if what is being suggested has a good chance to work in
real life situations.
This can be further tested and refined over a period of time, in
personal or telephone consultations.
2. Permission Issues
Self healing is as all healing, deeply enmeshed with permission and
authority issues. It has been noted that giving someone, for example, a
piece of paper that states that they are a "practitioner" of a healing
modality, and regardless of how this was acquired, acts as a "break
removal device" to their activities and skill developments.
In the case of EmoTrance, to transfer "permission to heal" from the
practitioner to the person is pre-supposed in the format of co-operation
between practitioner and person; however with people who are still very
much entrained to authority obedience and structural helplessness, it is
simply so that a formal transfer of authority needs to be made, even if
it is by saying hypnotically or authoritatively that "once a person has
done it for the first time, they have attained a new skill, namely that
of self healing, and can do it from that day forever."
3. Practice
It is also the fact that many people have suffered in the past greatly
from failing at certain tasks or behaviours and are thus presupposing
failure rather than success.
This is demotivational to the practice and PERFECTION of practice
towards mastery of any given discipline and EmoTrance is no different in
that respect from Karate or Qui Gung, although EmoTrance practice brings
measurable results faster.
It is therefore essential to the outcome of having a person learn how to
do EmoTrance reliably and to have it become the extraordinary resource
that it COULD become, to discuss or elicit areas where a person is
HIGHLY MOTIVATED to practice either a set ritual such as Heart Healing,
a series of structured healing sessions that is prescribed "3x a day" as
would be the case for a major faultline or major systemic injury, or a
topic area to practice, for example, energy nutrition that is so highly
attractive to the client, it will override previous disappointments or
even internal rules about failing.
For example, a person who is very interested and highly motivated by
wildlife and has many existing triggers in their environment on the
topic, such as books and small statues, posters and watching TV
programmes on the topic will be much more likely to practise energy
nutrition and energy learning on a regular basis in that context.
This last example also loops back to the environmental porting of these
new skills and experiences; and I would make the note that regular
practice with ideosyncratic motivational energies and their flow through
a person's body, as well as the experiences this creates, is exactly the
practice a person needs to be able to then use EmoTrance on severe
emotional disturbances when they are triggered by the environment in
real life, or in the field.
It is valuable to point out to a person that confidence in the system
arises through practice and familiarity with the system; and to have the
person themselves suggest ideas as to how they will put the basic
theories of energy nutrition in particular into practice at home and
within their own circles of circumstance.
This further allows a practitioner to notice energetic disturbances on
the topic of doing these things at home and for themselves; these may
well be approached for resolution as a final exercise before sending the
person back out into the field to test their new learnings and skills.
4. Support Literature
Certified EmoTrance practitioners have amidst their materials a short
handout of perhaps 10 pages that is used for conducting introduction
groups and self help meetings.
This handout can also be used for individual persons who are learning
EmoTrance from a practitioner and contains the basic and core theory and
instructions about the system.
ETPs are free to either copy or amend this material to suit their own
purposes.
It is to be noted however that support literature does not replace
bridging, permission and practise as this is ideosyncratic and
individual to each person and what brings the processes, use and
experience of EmoTrance to life.
