HI all,
just a quick overview report of where we are with this now. For the
actual technique and more information on the Shushumna Nadi, please

Thought Flow Basics
During an ET session, I noticed the possibility of handing over a
thought or a set of thoughts such as questions, stuck loops and
suchlike annoyances to a different processing system which appeared to
be accessed by moving these thoughts over the top of the head and down
the back.
I experienced this when I tried it very much like at first, a flow of
the thought or concept, from the brow up and over the head, then down
the neck and becoming finer and more misty until it seemed to
disappear altogether - at which point there was just wonderful peace
and a sense of relief in my conscious mind and the thought was just
gone.
Without prejudice, I invited some others to try it out and tell me
what happened when they did this, and they found the same effect,
describing it in their own terms, of course.
Then I spoke to Ananga Sivyer, my final authority on all things
"classically energetic" and go-between to the Yellow Emperor. She
tried the technique, experienced it much like I did, and then told me
that what I was doing was to hand over these thoughts to a very
important energy channel, called Shushumna Nadi in the Ayurvedic
System and Governor in the Chinese Systems.
I found a picture of said Shushumna Nadi and it did send a little
shiver up my spine - it was exactly as I had experienced it in
actuality right down to the thinning off sensation as this channel
bridges out of the coarse meridian system and into the wider energy
systems of the energy body.
Ananga and I like it a lot when this happens. Not that it is that
important really because I just found a technique that works very well
and is easy to do and that is what counts at the end of the day, but
it is also fun and general confirmation when my own experientially
derived maps match up with these "handed down from antiquity" wisdoms.
More Advanced Processing & Getting New Answers
Right from the start, I knew that passing over these unanswerable
paradoxes, dilemmas, problems and unsolvable puzzles to this other
system was very different from just "killing the thought" or "throwing
it in the bin". There are many techniques for that kind of thing and
although they afford a temporary relief, nothing much is gained and
the thought comes right back, entirely unchanged, and the old thought
loops just run all over again - and in the process of running, they
heat up, become faster, more powerful, more all-encompassing to the
point of obsession and systems breakdown in the long run.
I have, for a very long time indeed, taken the stance on all parts of
human systems that they are IMPORTANT, else they would not be here at
all and have been very unhappy indeed at the various religions which
try to demonify conscious thought, the body and the unconscious, for
example, depending on their own pet theories.
In my mind, the totality of a human system cannot work unless each
part is accorded its dues and they all work together in harmony and
communication.
The thought systems, which are particularly denigrated as "the monkey
mind", dismissed as being meaningless drivel and often even the target
of trying to switch them off altogether, were indeed malfunctioning
and causing a great deal of trouble - and the more we used them, the
more trouble they caused, leading to real overheating as they churned
round and round and very seriously unbalanced people's overall energy
systems who worked a lot with them, including my own.
I had a notion that this abuse of the thought systems had a lot to do
with the "genius and madness" problem for example, or why so many
highly intelligent and creative people get seriously ill and live and
die in extreme misery as they sacrifice their totality to their
endeavours.
For a time, we tried to stop this overheating by paying more attention
to the other systems (forcing ourselves to take breaks from our
research and walking or exercising, for example) but that really did
not work because once the thought system is active and running its
loops, it is very difficult indeed to try and slow it down or switch
it off, even if we wanted to - which, in the end, most people who work
in research and creativity simply do not want to do, no matter what
the cost to their sanity, their relationships with the rest of the
universe, and their health and physicality.
So I went back to the drawing board, considered the system and then
found the simple answer to the problem, namely that the thought system
at some point is designed to hand over its enquiries for further
processing elsewhere because it absolutely lacks the structural means
to really find the answers to its own questions.
Changes Of Heart
>From the other end of the spectrum, there was also something
interesting going on.
When we were discussing the Energy Of Learning, and the flows of this
kind of energy in the human totality, it was mentioned in passing that
first of all, the energy center metaphorically called "the heart" was
traditionally held to be superior to the "head" (the conscious thought
systems) and also, that it was *directing* the flow of information to
the thought systems.
One day, I heard in passing on the TV someone saying, "What are you
doing here? How come you changed your mind?" and the other person
answering, "I'm here because I had a change of heart."
When I heard that, I had a mini-revelation on the spot as to the
nature of the misconceptions and the problems - irresolvable
problems - we have created for ourselves by detaching the thought
system and trying to affect totality changes (such as behavioural
changes, trying to generate new and creative thought, or to influence
or control the physicality as is the case in weightloss) by "changing
our minds".
"Changing our minds" doesn't really do a thing in the long term,
especially - ESPECIALLY!! - with no properly working connection with
the other parts of the systems. You can change your mind this way and
that like the weather on meaningless topics such as what shade of grey
your walls should be painted in, but to truly change a life, a life
style, life style choices and anything else that is important, high
ranking and has wide reaching ecology effects (which is what you need
for weightloss or to come out of heroin addiction, for example) you
need to have a change of heart.
It is perfectly correct and practical, even though "a change of heart"
is just a metaphor. You all know that you can argue for all eternity
with a person in love or a Jehova's Witness and give them logic,
reason, argument and all the rest of it - they are completely immune
to anything one might say to them to "change their mind" - until the
day comes when they have their own change of heart, and not a moment
sooner. Parents and psychiatrists know this well enough and still,
they try to change someone's mind with talk and argument when that
simply doesn't work in the long run - structurally and simply, it
cannot.
Now, put it all together, and what we are beginning to get a glimpse
of, is a real and true possibility to sort ourselves out in every way
possible - namely by beginning to use the information exchanges and
energy flows in our totality as they were designed to, with each
sub-system contributing correctly and doing the right things, in their
rightful places and in the right order.
Towards A Functioning Totality
Very simply put when you add these things together and make a map,
what we have is a circular flow system across an array of processing
pathways to totality sub-systems which live at different levels of
structure and organisation.
Take a thought and allow it to move into the Shushumna Nadi. It gets
carried away and disappears from our conscious awareness as it begins
its path on a perfectly systemic conveyor belt. But it's still there,
getting changed and transmuted into something else that comes right
back from a "higher, invisible processing system", nicely sorted out,
and gets passed along until it arrives in exactly the right format in
the processing system called "the heart" and there, it naturally and
with no further ado, affects changes, which in turn get passed back to
the thought system - new thoughts, new behaviours, new will and new
questions arise and the whole system is different, *has learned and
changed* simply by completing the process and has arrived at what you
might call a higher level of organisation whilst we're at it. The
resulting changes can be observed in manifesting physicality and the
measurable reality which is produced by this totality's actions and
behaviours.
The fun thing about the whole system is that it is once again,
completely easy, completely natural, makes perfect sense, has been
talked about since the dawn of human kind and is just simply how we
are supposed to work as the kinds of creatures we are.
There's nothing spooky about it, nothing religious about it, it's
perfectly logical and it works.
What it needs doing to start it off and get it to flow reliably (and
not just completely mystifyingly, once in a blue moon, like a totally
unpredictable lightning strike that you can pray for but which you
have to have either enough karmic brownie points or some untenable
"genius qualities" to be allowed to experience at all!) is to release
the iron fist of thought-domain will power and pass over the problems
and unanswered questions, the memories that make no sense at all,
weird dreams and "inexplicable" "mysteries" to some other parts of our
human totality which were always designed to deal with that kind of
thing in the first place.
It needs the *thought system* of all things to make it work!
I love the beautiful irony inherent in this.
We have will and we have decision. And indeed, we have thoughts.
Better still, we have feedback devices on our thoughts. When they
start to really hurt - get highly frustrating, annoying, make us
angry, keep us awake all night, every night, get us absolutely
nowhere, drive us literally crazy - well, hey! There's your clue to
stop and hand this stuff over somewhere else for resolution.
And most beautifully of all, you are NOT handing over YOUR questions
to an external authority, no matter how well meaning.
You do not have to become enmeshed with shamans, priests, gods, genius
scientists or spend a lifetime searching for a soul mate or perfect
teacher who will answer your questions and "make you change your
mind". I'm pretty sure that the conscious thought systems will heave a
huge sigh of relief at that one, all around, because they know they
need help, they really know they are out of their depth and cannot
produce the answers, no matter how hard they work for how long, and
yet are so very reluctant to "let go of control" and give it to
external or other sources; in general they will only do this as the
very last of last resorts and this exactly and precisely why we have
these never-ending thought loops that functionally detach the thought
system from the flow, both in and out, in the first place.
In this case and in this flow system, the unique questions are both
handed over and STILL remain WITHIN the totality system of a single
individual.
We may consider that there is a very high likelihood that at some
point in this flow there exist sub-systems which are in direct contact
with other sub-systems of the same nature and here, important
information is exchanged on the community level and external imput
takes place indeed.
But enough of the speculation.
We can look at a mystery machine for a long time but we won't know
what happens when we switch it on until we switch it on. And as is
always the case with things we don't know anything about, we can
speculate and argue absolutely endlessly - the less we know, the more
what ifs we can put forth and the more wild and wondrous our theories
and disagreements can and will become.
So now, let's ...
Test The Thought Flow Theory
No huge research project is needed, just one person at a time who
reads this, somewhere, sometime, may sit themselves down and consider
a question or a dilemma or some unresolved puzzle that has been
driving them completely insane for a long period of time; perhaps even
one that they had to give up on altogether and just admit defeat and
come away thinking that this is just completely unknowable (by anyone
at all or just by you, it matters not).
Use the thought flow process with deliberate intent and will and hand
it over.
You might make a note of the original question somewhere, as good
researchers do, because when something like that is handed over
successfully, it really does completely disappear from conscious
awareness, no longer being in the thought system now, as it were; in
other words, after you handed something over successfully you will
forget the question altogether.
Then, just get on with your life.
Use the Thought Flow Process on little bugging things as often as you
can remember to do this as well, keep the channels flowing and clear,
open the system up.
And then collect your own insights and experiences in the context of
your own totality, and take it from there.
