I'm not sure if this is a question I should post on this list, but I'm
trying to understand something. Please point me in the right
direction...
Can someone have an unconscious talent or ability to hypnotize people?
I ask this because of the material I've read recently on storytelling
and hypnosis. Today it has occurred to me that my first husband must
have the ability to hypnotize who he speaks to when he is trying to
unfluence that person. I am remembering how I feel when I hear him talk
for long and how muddled my mind can become. I seem to lose the ability
to think or something. I made decisions or let him do things that now I
would NEVER do or allow in a million years. It seems like he had me so
brain-washed.
It has always been hard for me to describe this. My daughter can
describe the effects of listening to her father much better. When she
talks about it, I say, YES! that's exactly how I have always felt when
hearing him talk. I wish I could remember her words right now.
I can remember and recognize how he modulates his voice and the loops in
his words. I still don't know all the technical ways of describing it.
I just know that I cannot talk to him and I have found it impossible to
even listen to him. I have refused to talk to him in recent months now
that I have a lawyer (I am in a custody case).
The thing is, if he is being hypnotic, I don't think he is aware of it.
But tell me, is that even possible?
