Hi Kate,

The trip was 5 days and I'm not exactly sure of the physics but as
far as I know the Northern Lights are caused by charged particles
caught in the earth's atmosphere, brought here on the solar wind.

A truly amazing spectacle. I plan to go back again later on this year
and stay longer.
