Car deva

Reading about the spirit of the town reminds me of something from
Findhorn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Findhorn_Foundation They talk
about devas (spirits of nature, such as the rose deva) and I don't
remember if they talk about devas for locations as well, but know I
have communicated with them. Also with devas of machines, which have
spirits through their long association with people.

I once had an old car (the kind you could still work on yourself)
which was mysteriously stopping and going as I drove on the freeway
(in Los Angeles, by the way). It would go fine for a while, then
quit, then go several minutes, then quit. I couldn't figure out why.

Totally frustrated, I stopped by the road (having no other choice)
and went and sat down on the embankment. After I cooled down a bit I
thought of tuning in to the deva of my car, asked for help, looked
once again at the engine, and plain as anything saw a wire with a
plug on the end dangling in midair. I plugged it in to the obvious
spot and all went well from then on. But that's not the end.

I was driving there because I was on my way to a meditation retreat
in the mountains outside of LA. Getting there involved very windy
roads. I was having fun pretending to be a race car driver and was
pushing my little car pretty hard through the turns. I got to the
site, registered, parked, and one of my tires went flat. If that had
happened on the way up the mountain I would have been toast. I
thanked the deva and had a wonderful retreat.
