Isn't that weird? I felt really bizarre at the conscious level in
starting that mail with, "I don't know if you have Snow Globes in
Sweden ..." because I'm pretty sure that's where they were
originally invented (although not altogether) but these days I
don't argue to much with myself anymore and let me say what comes
in response to such things.
On the more general topic of naming things.
It is perfectly possible to *make up new words* if an old one to
cover the thing, process or whatever cannot be found.
I've recently had to resort to this when I was trying to describe
a human quality of perseverance beyond hope of any change or
success whatsoever and in failing to find any word or metaphor
worth using, called this quality "asha".
You could, just for fun, get into the process yourself and allow
yourself to produce some sounds as you do it, and see if one
shapes itself into a useful word which can then be added to the
Swedish language.
LOL. I'll allow many things to restrict me - but dictionaries?
