Hi Silvia and all
I'm always happy when Satir gets some of the praise I feel she deserves.
Just want to add something:
Frank Farelly (and his "provocative therapy") was another very important source for Bandler, as will be obvious for anybody who has seen Frank work (or better still: worked with him) and seen or heard Bandler work.
What I can testify from a number of personal experiences with him: Frank's touch (he very frequently touches his client, while delivering his provocative verbal statements) has strong healing qualities, his "heartfield" gets huge and envelops his client, and there is something quite powerful emanating from his eyes as well. And then there is his incredible humor... I still have fond memories of working with him, starting in a depressive morass and ending up with a hurting diaphragm, so much was I laughing about precisely those situations that dragged me down ten minutes before...
Please don't believe you've got the essence of Frank's work just by reading the verbal transcripts. Much of the essence of his work is elsewhere - in the non-verbal and energetic.

Subject: [ET2] Hello NLP! (was maybe off topic)
First of all, a very hearty welcome to all serious NLPers - and to
all funny ones, also.
Any ET practitioners wanting to widen their horizons, by all means
take a training. Hypnosis especially is one of these wonderful
loopholes in human construct city that may prove to be a suitable
escape hatch if correctly enchanted :-))
What is important for me to have clear to all NLPers is that what
we are doing here with ET is much, much more related to the silent
3rd in the NLP genesis - namely VIRGINIA SATIR.
Being the lady in the pack, as well as the furthest from "rational
scientific explanation", she received the least attention but she
was the one who was working with energy and where the submodality
stuff comes from, which lead to the eye accessing cues and not the
other way around.
When I said, "she received the least attention" I do NOT mean by
Bandler and co, but since by those trying to figure out where
Bandler got his stuff from.
This is the missing loop and explanation as to what he does, how
he does it and even why.
If you want to get right on the map with this stuff from an NLP
standpoint and connect the missing dots in your energy/NLP
landscape, you have to turn to Virginia Satir as the original
inspiration and teacher and watch her videos, read her books.
When you do you will look at it with your mouth open and ask
yourself why no-one else has written the EmoTrance book in all
these years, its so blatantly obvious!
Also, and this is a very important and interesting point, Virginia
was working with multi-ordinate systemics - not with a single
system of one human construct but groups of them. The kind of
logic and reading skills needed here are of course of such an
order that standard scientific notation is no longer applicable
and although you can perfectly *see* what she's doing and
perfectly understand it as well, go and present your
understandings to a bunch of dour scientists at some university
and see how far you get with it.
I think this is why this was put aside and focus paid to the more
simpler, easier to "re-scientalise" topics for all this time.
Luckily, I only deal with people so I don't have that problem or
limitation :-) plus by then having the authority of the new energy
psychology set behind me, it was easy to do when 20 years ago,
clearly it was not.
Anyway.
If you want to do historic research, dig out Virginia and just
watch, learn and listen :-)
waves,
SF
