Hey Silvia :)

I'm up for a discussion - our dear friend the Yellow Emperor has
something to say about this in his classic of internal medicine. You
know if I say anything about this it's going to be from the meridian
energy angle so here goes and I look forward to your response...

The energy psychology information available on the meridian systems
deems the heart energy and meridian to be the king of the energy system
- the seat of wisdom, courage, sound decisions, expression of love and
spiritual understanding. This ruler of the energetic realm is served by
many members of his court such as counsellor lung, judge gall bladder,
warehouse manager stomach etc.

The key principle being harmony, co-operation and deep seated respect
for the monarch, this energetic community serves to counsel and protect
their ruler above all else. The main energy channel responsible for
protecting the heart is the pericardium meridian. In biology I learned
that the pericardium is a membranous sac surrounding the heart, this
sack is filled with fluid and acts as a "shock absorber" to the heart
itself. This is also true of the pericardium meridian - the pericardium
energy serves to protect the heart and will usually absorb shocks and
traumas on behalf of the heart wherever possible. However, on occasions
where a shock is severe or trauma is great (this may, of course also be
due to undealt with accumulations) the damage will eventually impact the
heart energy directly.

The energetic backup system:

The 12 organ meridians are backed up by 8 "extraordinary" vessels. Two
of which, the governing and conception vessels, are familiar to users of
EFT as the central channels whose tapping points are found under the
nose and on the chin.

If you have ever had the experience when using EmoTrance of something
rushing out of the top of your head or trickling out of your tailbone -
the chances are you've just freed up some stuck energy in one or both of
these meridian channels.

Here's a frame of reference that appeals to me greatly in the context of
EmoTrance and "The Oceans of Energy" - when describing energetic flow
the Nan Jing texts describes the organ meridians as rivers and the eight
extra vessels as reservoirs.

These energy reservoirs provide back up energy and support to the
meridian organs of our system in a variety of ways. One of my favourite
examples being the energetic support available during pregnancy where
one of the eight extra vessels establishes a flow of protective chi
energy in support of the conception vessel. This energy flows around the
abdominal area of the mother providing a constant source of energy
protection and nourishment throughout the pregnancy.

Going back to the heart... theses reservoirs of energy will provide back
up where possible. And it is the "possible" word that interests me here.
Should our energy system be blocked, distorted, or traumatised it may
well not be possible that back up or even regular energy flows where it
is needed. The water analogies are perfect here to give an idea of the
many possible directions energy may take in our systems - you might
think for a moment of a smoothly flowing river abundant with wildlife of
many varieties, peaceful yet active and with lush green banks and
healthy trees - all life sustained by the clean and unhindered flowing
water.

A rushing river with white water and rocks to me readily conjures an
image which truly represents the perils of over energy in a meridian
channel. To look at the opposite and imagine a stagnant stream blocked
and unmoving creates an accurate representation of what happens when
energy channels are blocked and stagnate.

Each person's energy system is a map of that person as a unique
individual. Our energy systems adapt to the contours of our bodies and
to our emotional patterns and expressions. And so it is with the heart
energy it will adapt and transform according to our individual
expression of our life. Typically it is written that shocks and trauma's
affect the heart energy. How is it then that the apparently same shock
or trauma could happen to two different people and produce very
different results energetically and experientially. Leon Hammer explains
this very thoroughly in his work "Dragon Rises, Red Bird Flies" - a
simplified overview being that we each have our unique energetic areas
of strength and weakness and disturbances will tend to affect any
weakened organ and related channel first rather than the typical organ
associated with that type of experience. For example, a person
experiencing either constitutionally, or by accumulated disruptions, a
weakens in the liver energy will find that shocks will further disrupt
the liver energy rather than the heart. Hence, we have a pattern of
individual expression of disruptions according to the pattern of health
in each of our systems.

This, for me, is where EmoTrance shines as an extremely simple and
accessible method of working with energy flow as, rather than being
complex and diagnostic, it simply asks "where do you feel that in your
body" and works from there.

Frequently when using ET I find that certain issues with a common
relevance will often follow a similar path as I move them through and
out. As fascinated as I am by the mechanics and science of the energy
system I keep anything I do with EmoTrance entirely experiential and am
content to note afterwards the "relevance" of whatever occurred
according to my understanding of energy networks.

Well... I tired to keep this specific to the original post but seem to
have taken a mini "Meridian Journey" here as I ended up writing my
musings as they occurred to me - I look forward to the comments by
others on the list...

with best wishes to all
Ananga

Subject: [ET2] Broken Hearts

Just saw an advertisement that used the phrase "a broken heart" to
both describe someone dying of a heart attack as well as the
sadness/bereavement effects of those who loved them - i.e. as in "When
Bill's heart broke, so did his wife, Sarah's."

Which set me to thinking ...

... how to think of the idea and process of an energetically "broken"
heart in terms of ET and energy flow, how to repair this, what it
might be like structurallly, and generally wonder if there's anyone on
this list who would care to discuss such a thing.
