This is how I did it with one client, who couldn't feel her body (combining metaphor with ET)

"It seems that there is a kind of shield between you and your feelings.
Now if you imagine this shield somewhere in front or around you...
And if you make a tiny hole in that shield, so that some of those feelings (just the amount you can handle) can come in, what happens?"

And then I looked as carefully as I could for any bodily changes, and brought these to the client's attention.

And then: "If these feelings can move through and out of your body, where would they flow to?"

This worked pretty well. It was especially reassuring
- that she could regulate the amount of energy coming in
- that she could help it move through and out.

She didn't know either.

Now, this was to some extent more "mental" than ordinary ET.
But it was helpful, and that's what counts for me.
