Hi Silvia and all
Funny that this post should come today.
Yesterday I played around a bit with "creating more room for the emotion (or whatever) in my body", as a prep for letting it flow out.
I like that, it's like first welcoming "it" more, before letting it go.
For people like me, it is important not to empahisize too much the "letting it go", as it associates too easily with my old patterns of "not wanting to feel this". Just like "eliminating feelings" with EFT did.
People who know a bit about "body-reading" will have a good idea which part of the breathing cycle needs to be emphasiszed with which person.
"Giving it space" is just another word for softening, I guess. And I like having different descriptions for the same process.
The breathing variation would be: "I take a deep breath in, and give it more space".
The complete cycle: "I take a deep breath in, and give it more space, I exhale and let go of all of that"
Then: "Yes, that too i give more space, and let it go" etc.
With sweet memories to my yoga teacher from way back when...
Maarten
PS I loved how your explanation worked as a suggestion...

Subject: [ET2] Sighing It Away ...
Here is a simple but profoundly useful little pattern to use with
EmoTrance for negative thoughts, or just shitty mind-body states of
confusion, depression, swirling and so forth.
You take a deep breath and let it out in a long drawn out sigh, and
say or think to yourself something along the lines of,
"I take a deep breath and then I'm just going to let go *of all of
that*. I am going to simply let go of all of that and just sigh it
away, let it all go. Yes, even THAT - I'm simply going to let go of
all of that and sigh it away, let it go, let it drift and fall away,
rise and simply be gone, because I don't need that anymore."
Does that sound like a hypnotic induction?
Yes it does and yes it is, but that's not the point. Hypnosis is
nothing other than using words to create energetic state shifts and
actually get someone to a place of stillness where a thoughtfield that
is created and pulsed out and into that person's energy system will
get to the core and live there, start to run systems, and with the
better hypnotists, become a seed for re-newal and for re-growth that
will develop on under its own steam long after the session was over.
So therefore, you can use the above "sighing it all away" not just
with yourself to good effect but also have your clients do that,
either in the session as and when appropriate or after as a
"relaxation exercise" so they can do it by themselves when they get
home.
You can run this as often as you want to whenever you feel in the
mood.
Have fun sighing ...
Silvia
