Hi all
Probably a number of you know me from other EP-lists - I've been kind of noisy there, the last six months....
But I never really introduced myself, so here goes:
My name is Maarten Aalberse, born in '51. I'm a clinical psychologist of dutch origin, living in France since 1995 with my (French) wife and 9 year old son.
In my baby therapist years (I really started young, when I was 23) I practiced as a Bio-Dynamic massage therapist (working a lot with "distributing energy" through and out...). Over the years I did tons of other stuff.
The last ten years I have taught quite a few body-oriented psychotherapists some new ways in working with "personality dis-orders" and the massive unresolved shame and humiliation that I believe generate so much of this dissociating and acting out.
I guess that one major thing that led me to work with what's considered "severe pathology" is the fact that manic-depressive problems have created quite some havoc in my family of origin.
Even though I have only recently become an "official" TAT practitioner and trainer, I have practiced TAT (as well as TFTdx/EFT) , for over 6 years, after having watched some tapes of Tapas over and over again). TAT still is my big EP favorite - and so it is for many of my students.
But I guess that ET will catch up, soon.
One of the blessings of living in France (there's also a number of curses, one of these being that the French are until now not very open to EP) is that I discovered a wonderful form of osteopathy (la "Méthode Danis Bois), where the focus is very much on capturing and facilitating how the tissues want to move.
I love to combine EP with movement work (using gestures as symbols, in some ways comparable to how Tapas' wonderful Mexican friends use drawings as symbols).
Looking forward to learning and sharing more,
Maarten
